WOMENS V HALLS HEAD

31 Oct 2021 by Dave Cowan

Today the WSCC Womens Team travelled to Peelwood to take on last years premier Halls Head. HHCC won the toss and elected to field.
Whitney provided a great start for the team, opening the batting with first gamer Amy. Whitney top scored with 13 runs. WSCC ended up 8 / 104 from their allotted 20 overs. Whilst we did suffer a few run outs due to experience, the endeavour to challenge the field was pleasing to see, and running between the wickets is something we will continue to work on.
The experience of HHCC shone through, with them scoring 7 / 166 from their allotted 20 overs.
That being said, the whole team fielded very well, and it is safe to say have now set a new standard for attitude and effort in the field. A lot of the body going on the line, some really great ground fielding, but the highlight would have to be the run outs and body positioning for run outs. Bec Logan achieved a personal milestone beating the bat for the first time, needless to say she was a tad excited, and no doubt Bodie got to hear about what the ball did, how Bec worked over the batter to achieve bowling greatness. She ended up with 1 / 11 of her allotted 2 overs.
Our new players Hannah, Kaila and Amy fit in straight away with the side, providing great contributions also.
It was observed by not only the coaches, but also the spectators at the ground that the team has really started to mature into a cohesive team, prepared to work hard for each other. The attitude and support from everyone was A1.
This week our player of the day was Molly, she was really excellent in the field, but she achieved a big turnaround in her bowling taking 2 / 11 from her 2 allotted overs.
Thanks to Travis for being square leg umpire today.
A big thanks goes out to the HHCC, they played the game in Great Spirit and the post-match hospitality was excellent.
Congratulations to all involved in the game today.
